Academic Honesty

Academic honestly means doing your own work. This is also known as plagiarism. Plagiarism is the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work. This is the major issue involving academic honesty. There are many ways to find other's work on the internet and use it as your own. For example, you can get written essays for free to use as your own. Many students resort to academic dishonesty because they are lazy. They want to find the easiest way to get their work done. There are now internet cites that teachers use to check for plagiarism in a students work. In other cases students do not know what to write about so they just use what someone else wrote. The other major area of plagiarism is music. Cites like Limewire allow people to illegally download music. Laws are becoming more strict that deal with academic honesty. This will help to improve the integrity of the students, because if they plagiarize, they will usually get caught.
